But, since that isn't achievable, the next best thing is bonding with them through positive training. A trained and obedient dog is a happy dog and a joy to live with, but sit and lay down only go so far; it's time to enrich your perfect pet’s life and enroll them in classes that stimulate their minds and enhance their bond with you. How? Right in your local Animal Humane's backyard. #perfectpetnm 1. Jump for joy Your browser does not support the video. A good start Today we have some wonderful news really worth celebrating... Raj has found his forever home! Alexandra and Lakota saw Raj's video last week, and as soon as they saw it said, "That's our dog" and came to meet him. He has been living in a foster home with them for the last week to make sure he would be the right fit, and they just finalized the adoption today! Alex and Lakota own their home with a large yard and just installed a dog door that Raj quickly learned how to use. He sleeps in their bed with them every night and is learning how to go on runs with them. Congratulations to Raj and his new family, and to everyone who shared his video! Your help is what gave Raj his forever home. #raj A post shared by Animal Humane New Mexico (@animalhumanenm) on Sep 20, 2015 at 3:17pm PDT Class: Civilized Canine What To Expect: Is your dog new to training or need a refresher course in basic obedience? It is fun for the dogs and fun for the handlers. Scent work comes very naturally to dogs: one-third of a dog’s brain processes are devoted to olfaction. Dogs will begin searching for food and toys. This activity is a huge confidence booster for the shy or reactive dog. It is also great for dogs that may have physical challenges or older dogs. It is a fantastic energy burner for adolescent dogs too! 24/7 help is here Image Via Animal Humane New Mexico If you're interested in a class but also just have a couple questions, feel free to call Animal Humane's Behavior Helpline; a free service available to all pet owners who are experiencing behavior concerns with their dogs or cats.
