14 Places to Grab a Sandwich After 9 pm in Burque

Who says sandwiches are just a lunch thing? Sometimes a sandwich is exactly what you want even after the sun has gone down. Here are some places in Albuquerque where you can find a great sandwich for dinner or later.

Adieux Cafe

Open Until 2 am

Adieux Cafe (420 Central Ave SW) may have a swanky high-priced look but with their selection of $5 sandwiches, anyone can afford a tasty bite during the day or late into the night.

Kellys Brew Pub

Open Until 11 pm

Kelly's Pub (3222 Central Ave SE) is especially nice on a late summer night when it's warm enough to enjoy the patio late into the evening. Try Kelly's Reuben sandwich with corned beef roasted in-house on rye with Swiss.

Open Until 10 pm

Where there's a college campus, there's bound to be some late-night pizza places. You'll find Saggio's just across the street from UNM at 107 Cornell SE. If it's a sandwich you're after, go for the Nick's Special, a throughly Italian choice layered with turkey, Genoa salami, Roma tomatoes, roasted red peppers, cheddar, romaine, with Caesar dressing on Ciabatta bread.

Shade Tree Customs & Cafe

Open Until 11 pm

After the recent renovation at Shade Tree Customs & Cafe (3407 Central Blvd NE), one of my favorite menu items disappeared but, due to popular demand, the STC Chicken Sandwich is back. This fried chicken sandwich is best enjoyed late at night with a cold beer.

Cheba Hut

Open Until 10 pm

Come on, who can't appreciate the humor of a stoner-themed sandwich shop? Cheba Hut (115 Harvard Dr SE) is open late for those evening munchies. Try not to snicker while you order subs with names like Dank, Kush or Chronic.

Open Until 10 pm & 11 pm on Weekends

It doesn't really matter which sub sandwich you order here, they're all good. The real question is Greek dressing or ranch? (Check dions.com for locations and hours)

The Cube

Open Until 10 pm

Sometimes a BBQ sandwich is exactly what you need to satisfy a late-night craving. The Cube (1520 Central Ave SE) serves a killer brisket sandwich.

Flying Star Cafe

Open Until 9 pm

Flying Star Cafe's grilled cheese isn't just good. It's award-winningly good. Perfect for a student pulling a last-minute study session the night before a big test. (Check flyingstarcafe.com for locations and hours)

O'Niell's Pub

Food Served Until 11:30 pm

With a full menu available every day until 11:30 p.m., O'Neill's has you covered for a late-night sandwich fix. Go for one of their Reuben options or try the new Southwest pastrami on rye with Swiss and green chile.

Nexus Brewery

via yelp.com

Open Until 9:30 pm

It's not often that you find a brewery that not only brews good beer but also some killer fried chicken. Try the Southern fried chicken in a club sandwich next time you find yourself at Nexus Brewery (4730 Pan American Freeway East, Suite D).

The Frontier Restaurant has been serving Albuquerque since 1971. I absolutely love this place.

Open Until 1 am

Gone are the days of the 24-hour schedule at Frontier (2400 Central Ave SE) but you can still get some good eats up until 1 in the morning. That includes the Fiesta Chicken sandwich with Swiss cheese and green chile and your choice of salad dressing or spicy honey mustard.

Two Fools Tavern

Food Served Until 11 pm

A pint of Guinness and a RulaBula Reuben sure sounds like a good pairing to me. Two Fools Tavern (3211 Central Ave NE) has both.

66 Diner

via yelp.com

Open Until 10 pm

66 Diner (1405 Central Ave NE) has your late-night sandwich needs covered with French onion dips and cheese steak sandwiches served until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Stumbling Steer

Food Served Until 10 pm

Westsiders, we haven't forgotten about you. The Stumbling Steer (3700 Ellison Rd NW) is at your service until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until midnight Friday and Saturday. Try the Ellison Sandwich with marinated ham and turkey, red bell peppers, Swiss cheese, a Tabasco remoulade, all on a toasted French baguette.
