1. Hike Ensign Peak
This hike is located near Capitol Hill and offers a brilliant view of the city. Try it out at night and you can see State Street lit up for miles!
2. Tour the State Capitol
Quite the sight from different areas of the city, the Capitol building is just as stunning inside. Take yourself on a tour, or join a regularly scheduled one.
3. Twilight Concert Series
At just $5 per concert, the Twilight Concert Series is an awesome way to see amazing bands like Belle and Sebastian, Iron & Wine and Bright Eyes. You’ll be seeing them along with tens of thousands of other Salt Lakians crowded into Pioneer Park, but it’s still an experience you need to have.
4. Snowshoe Donut Falls
Everyone can hike, but can you snowshoe? You should try it, and Donut Falls is a great place to do so because it freezes into a cave during winter!
5. Drive the Alpine Loop
Looking for a way to impress any out-of-towners? This is it. Make sure you drive the loop in the fall (October is ideal) for the best colors!
6. Wander around Temple Square
Temple Square is beautiful all year round, but the lights at Christmastime are spectacular.
7. See a Ballet West Performance
There are few better ways to know a city than to experience some of its best art.
8. Hike Mount Olympus
Every bucket list needs a physical endurance test. This awesome seven mile hike takes about six hours and provides amazing views of the valley.
9. Celebrate at the Greek Festival
Every September, this celebration is held at the Greek Orthodox church in downtown Salt Lake City. Taste Greek cuisine and watch traditional Greek performances.
10. Watch the 4th of July Fireworks
Salt Lake City takes its 4th of July seriously as fireworks explode all over the valley. The best viewing spots include Sugar House park and Ensign Peak.

The Salt Lake City Downtown library is a jaw-dropper. With reading space, cafes, an interactive children's area and a rooftop garden walk, there are plenty of things to do. The Leonardo museum, also located at Library Square, is a contemporary museum full of changing exhibits.
16. Eat at Hector's
Hector's, formerly known as Mocasalsa, is a gem here in Salt Lake City. Frequented by snowboarders, you should go too.
17. Natural History Museum of Utah
Learn about dinosaurs and all of Utah's natural history at this museum.
18. Visit the Up House
It may no longer be open to visitors, but this house is worth making the drive to Herriman to see. The architects modeled it after the house from the film, Up!
